AUGURY
Previous exhibition
Starting January 19th
Symbols, analogies and metaphors have served to express concepts and ideas in a universal way. Throughout time, different cultures have assigned human traits and attitudes to natural phenomena, animals and even plants, based on observable characteristics of each, such as the fury of a storm or the loyalty of a dog.
Chinese culture, through its zodiac and astrology, has used these representations to predict the fortune of the times to come, as a kind of guide or ritual for the beginning of the year under the characteristics of certain animals.
2023 is the Chinese year of the rabbit, which is associated with ingenuity, prudence, kindness, fertility and hope. This exhibition brings together artists from China and Latin America around their predictions for the coming year, using the rabbit as an omen of a new beginning after difficult times.
