Lines by Diego Andrade

When you place a dot on a white surface, the void disappears, and if that dot joins another, a line is formed, opening up a sea of infinite possibilities, of stories to tell, of worlds to explore, of ideas to express, of lines to make.

Coming from admiring the world of comics in his childhood, Diego found in ink an ideal material to explore his ideas, using and perfecting techniques that he knew, achieving an impact based solely on technical skill, leaving aside somewhat the emotion behind the creative impulse: "- I was just trying, unsuccessfully, to be as good as those I admired."

However, perfecting this technical skill at some point was no longer enough, a concern that led him to worry more about what each line had to say, how he filled the spaces, how the strokes flowed, the abstraction of the forms, the tonal values, the rhythms of each drawing and his intention to communicate through them, the constant flow of energy in the universe. Everything flows.

This exhibition is a collection of drawings made between 2021 and 2023, bringing together projects that did not see the light of day, others that did come to fruition, and also personal projects, all of which have as their common protagonist a clean, fluid and personal stroke, lines that flow on the paper naturally and almost instinctively, as if they were already there, and I was just chasing them with my hand.
