Good fortune has been pursued by all cultures around the world in an attempt to control what surrounds us; various rituals, amulets and offerings have been created in order to find order in a chaotic universe, to cope with bad harvest seasons or illnesses, as well as to attract prosperity or have the favor of some deity. These different ways of trying to decipher the world have crossed the mystical and the scientific, sometimes from opposites, but also finding common points.

One of these coincidences is numerology, a discipline that studies numbers to find clues about destiny, based on the idea that these are the basis of everything that exists. According to this discipline, each number has a charge and a subjective importance, however, the number seven involves a special symbolism, as it is present in different texts, studies and knowledge, which refer to it as a "perfect number", being an amulet of good luck, prosperity and harmony.

In 2023, GAMA reaches seven years of uninterrupted work, seven years of building paths hand in hand with the artists and projects that have collaborated with us and little by little, getting closer to our goals; however, it is undeniable that, in addition to the work and dedication that is put into a project, luck is a push that is present in different measures along the way. For this reason, on this seventh anniversary, we want to appropriate the omen that this number represents and present “LUCK”, a collective exhibition that seeks for each artist to reflect what this word means to them: from an amulet or a ritual, to the perseverance and focus on their work.
