Skulls and Kittens

Previous exhibition

July 23 to August 20

Evanfelino and Mariano Orell —artists originally from Argentina— present their first collaborative exhibition at Gama Crea. "Calaveras y gatos" is a fusion of Mariano's eccentricity with Evanfelino's harmony; two different graphics to establish a dialogue within our space.

"We arrived in Mexico for the first time in 2014 without planning it too much. It was going to be a 3-month trip in search of inspiration, to get to know the local scene that was exploding with talent and to return to Tucumán recharged. Those months were so intense and so full of emotions that we decided to skip our return flight; the decision wasn't difficult, we were amazed: the people, their stories, the places, the flavors, the culture...

Over time, the search for inspiration became a personal search. A look inside. Being so far from our city, that look had a different, broader perspective. What were we doing with our lives? What should we do? Who are we if nothing conditions us?

Eight years later, that search takes us to other places, but we know that we undoubtedly spent some of the best years of our lives here, full of learning and experiences. Possibly the greatest learning of all was to follow our path doing what we like. In this exhibition we present part of that search, drawings made in these years whose common characteristic is that it gave us joy to do them.

"We're always drawing skulls and kittens."
