SEMBLANCE:
David Espinosa Alvarez is a Mexican illustrator and comic book author from Cancun. He studied Information Design at the University of the Americas in Puebla and currently lives in Cholula where he creates graphics and comics for personal projects and brands around the world. He is the general director of a graphic design studio called Trucha Cienfuegos and the art director of the clothing brand Pizzatánicos.
As a comic book author, he won the 2018 Tierra Adentro National Young Graphic Novel Award for his work Nido de Serpientes. He has published various projects independently, such as Yo y la Muerte vol. 1 and 2, Motivo de Visita, and El twit ilustrado, which was selected in Pixelatl’s SecuenciArte contest. His next graphic novel, Foráneo, will be published by Editorial Planeta in 2023. He is currently a beneficiary of the federal government’s artistic creation incentive program “young creators 2022.”
In his other role as an illustrator, he has illustrated books for Planeta, Penguin Random House and other publishing houses.
The most recent being the book of the acclaimed podcast Leyendas Legendarias. He has worked with brands such as Adidas, Cerveza Indio, Jose Cuervo, Palacio de Hierro, LG, Xiaomi, among others.
His comics and illustrations have led him to give talks, exhibitions and present his books at places such as the Guadalajara International Fair, the Tamayo Museum, the Palacio Bellas Artes and other countries such as the United States and Algeria.
