The European need to seek out territories to plunder, left us in exchange, sometimes against our will, the opportunity to celebrate their traditions. The end of the Gregorian calendar (European, then) brings with it the coldest seasons of the year, and there is no season that reminds us more of death than autumn, that time when everything that was born and grew comes to an end. This allegory gave birth to the Halloween that we all want and love, a holiday in which the sun was said goodbye and the dead were welcomed, who were received with offerings and candles outside their houses (I'm looking at you, Day of the Dead e_e).
Thousands of years later, thanks to syncretism and neocolonialism, these traditions reach us in the form of products, ornaments and content that we can buy, consume and feel more and more Yankee, asking for candy on the street and dressing up in the latest TV series.
Although it may seem like it, the truth is that we are not party poopers. Of course we like costumes, parties and horror movies. That is why this exhibition is a tribute to classic monsters, such as vampires, mummies, werewolves or ghosts ; remembering that we can celebrate whatever we want, without forgetting why we do it, basically being a person in a funny costume who complains about capitalism.
