Intensive illustration course “I love you Gama”
July 27 and 28 + August 10, CDMX.
GAMA and Te Quiero mucho bring you six sessions led by 6 illustrators who, for two days, will share tools, techniques and tricks to exercise our skills as illustrators.
Two weeks later (time to prepare our illustrations) we will visit SARA, one of the best risograph studios in the city, where we will print our illustrations and learn more about this printing technique.
Finally, our curls will be exhibited at GAMA, as part of the gallery's anniversary.

Alfonso de Anda is a Mexican artist with a strong inclination towards narrative, drawing and painting. He holds a Master's degree in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York. In his commercial career, he has worked with clients such as Google, The New York Times and Adidas.
Session title: Observing with a pencil
Theme: Expansion of our pictorial and narrative language
Objective: In this drawing session we explore different ways of approaching observational drawing and implementing freer drawing in our processes.
Jimena Duval
Architect by profession, illustrator by vocation, she graduated from the Autonomous University of Yucatán, as an Architect and has been professionally dedicated to graphic art since 2020. Autistic and bipolar, she lives as a hold to survive in this world, her personal work focuses on the exploration of instinctive emotions that we have abandoned in order to belong to the human; in her graphics she explores her need to return to animality.
His work has been exhibited in Mérida, CDMX, Barcelona, Madrid, Nîmes, Guadalajara and São Paulo.
Session Title: Not all cats are gray
Theme: Cartography of a unique style.
Objective: We will track our visual consumption throughout our lives, to identify which elements are still present in our graphic practice, and how to generate a unique visual style that is representative of our style.
TEACHER
Profe is an illustrator and designer who has been involved in projects related to music, editorial projects and branding; in addition to constantly developing his personal work. His projects have been published in Mexico, Latin America and have been exhibited in different parts of the world. His personal work revolves around the exploration of nature, geometry and science fiction, with which he seeks to approach projects with textiles and continue exploring his work as an artist.
Session Title: Our “mistakes” are our style
Theme: Integrating mistakes as part of our work and recognizing them as the most honest way to find our style.
Objective: To silence the self-sabotaging conscious self and listen to the more unconscious creative part. In addition to rethinking the relationship we have with our “mistakes” and arriving with them at our true graphic voice.
Santiago Solis
Designer, illustrator, art director, and editor. He is the director of his own design studio Mano de Papel. He is a partner in the poetry publishing house Malpaís Ediciones. He was the coordinator of the Casa: Narrativa de las Imágenes (UNAM) diploma course. He has taught applied illustration at Centro and at the INBA School of Design.
Session Title: A Portrait is not a Likeness
Theme: The portrait
Objective: Draw portraits from different perspectives, materials, speeds
ULYSSES MENDICUTTY
Ulises Mendicutty is an illustrator and curator based in Barcelona, where he tells stories using drawings and portraits. A few years ago he founded Te Quiero Mucho, an alternative space where he seeks to give voice to unconventional illustrators, their processes and their mistakes. His work has been exhibited in various parts of the world and he has worked for clients such as The Guardian, Google, Kiblind, Adobe, Canva, Penguin Random House or Universal Music, among others.
Title of the session: Drawing workshop
Topic: Practice as a tool for creation and unlocking
Objective: Through various practical exercises we will face the blank page, we will practice our drawing, synthesis and communication skills in order to apply what we have learned during the sessions to the creation of an illustration that will be printed using risograph. We will learn a simple way to prepare our files and we will begin to develop the concept and the first sketches of our drawing.
